      Laser Edging

      A technology of gluing edging tapes consisted of using the Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate (EVA) adhesives exclusively. The strength of a bond was based on hardening of an adhesive by cooling and crystallization on a room temperature. A development of technology brought us the patenting of a new way of edging by using PUR adhesives as well as laser gluing of an edging tape.

      PUR adhesives are reactive adhesives from polyurethane that achieve full hardness by cooling and by bonding the moisture from the air. This way you can edge all materials that were previously edged with classic EVA adhesives.

      • The bond of an edging tape and a panel has a high strength which makes it impossible to separate them once it is completely bonded.
      • The bond of an edging tape and a panel is waterproof. A layer of PUR adhesive completely closes the edge of a board and, having in mind that polyurethane is waterproof by itself, this makes the edge of a panel waterproof as well, preventing the swelling of the edge due to water and moisture exposure. This makes it a great solution for manufacturing of furniture for kitchens, bathrooms and other spaces with high moisture.
      • The bond between the tape and the board is extremely resistant to low temperatures, up to -40 ℃
      • The bond of an edging tape and a panel has a high resistance to temperatures of up to +140℃ once it is completely hardened. This characteristic provides a great advantage in manufacturing of furniture which is exposed to high temperatures such as kitchen furniture that is in contact with ovens and stoves because the glue will not soften due to overheating.
      • By using a PUR adhesive for edging, a layer of glue needed for bonding is ultra-thin which reduces the space between the tape and the panel making an almost invisible and fine bond.

        ATAK LLC has integrated laser edging and PUR adhesive edging into the manufacturing process in September 2017., and from July 2018., a CNC processing of curvilinear cutting and engraving is also used.
